1. 帮助别人就是帮助自己

Once I was on my way to college from home with lots of luggage. It took almost two hours to college.

The bus I travelled had no vacant seats. With the luggage it was a total mess to stand in the speeding bus. A lady saw my pain and asked me to share her seat. Though tightly packed in the seat, the rest of the journey went fine.

I asked her where was she going to. She replied that she was taking her husband for a consultation in my college. She showed me her sick husband in the back seat. I said her im a medical student there and could help her.

After reaching the college I asked her to wait outside the Out Patient (OP) ticket counter. Students and staff gets the ticket without standing in the long queue.

I took the ticket for them. It would've saved them an hour of waiting in the queue. They thanked me a lot for it.

Though I was a bit late for the class I felt happy I had repayed them for the help they offered me.

2.父母不在家，保姆来救我

When I was 8, I was living in the Philippines, and my parents both happened to be away on a business trip for the first time in my life. They were both a little nervous about it but it was only one day so they figured it would be ok.

That night, a 7.0 earthquake hit Manila at around 3am. Our maid, who came on weekdays to clean and cook from 1pm - 6pm rushed over to the apartment to make sure I was ok. She got to me just as the earthquake was ending (I slept through the whole thing lol), and brought me out to a parking lot to wait out possibly aftershocks.

Even though nothing happened really ( the building was fine, nothing broke or fell ), I still feel eternally grateful to Yaya Lorna.

3. 热情的中国人

This was 3 months back when I was in China for a student exchange program. It had been 2 days and I was in a supermarket searching for basic food stuffs. Everything was in Chinese and hardly anybody understood what I was trying to ask. I was almost on the verge of crying because I realized these 3 months were going to be very tough.

Then, a man approached me and tried to ask using hand gestures if everything was okay. I asked him where I could find ketchup. He didn't know English. But, he realized my dilemma and called his daughter from his cellphone. She talked to me in English and asked me what I needed. She then translated that back to her father and he took me to the section.

It was a very touching moment of my life. Even in a strange country, if someone tries to do even this much for you, it is enough in taking a leap of faith.

4.善良的父亲

Once my father and I are walking on a footpath talking about something. Suddenly my father saw a beggar (without legs) desperately asking people to help him board a bus. There are about 20 people there but none of them even had a look at him. My father & I went to him, lifted him with our hands and made sure he got a PH seat in the bus. Had my father didn't take the initiative , I would have been that 21st guy who ignored that poor guy.

5. 投之以桃，报之以Picture of Lord

This was rather a strange experience. I was returning from college in the evening. The journey is about 20 minutes from my college to home, so I usually did not fret about getting a seat.

I had already reached half way home when I saw an elderly lady standing near me. I immediately asked her to sit in my seat which she politely refused saying that she was going to get down at the next stop. I did not think much of it and kept listening to songs on my headphones.

Just then the bus driver applied brakes rather suddenly, the lady was about to fall but I caught her in time. I could see she was shaken, I offered her seat again but she said her stop was arriving.

I saw she was barely able to reach to the bars meant for support while standing, so I just held her to protect her from falling. I am quite strong compared to other Bong girls, so I held her rather easily.

Her stop was nearing when she started rummaging through her bag trying to find something, then she brought out a picture and started saying something.

And I behaved like an absolute jerk..!!!

I thought she was like those ladies who pretended to be lost/had someone in hospital and asked for money from students. So I shook my head politely refusing. But she pushed the picture in my hands, I removed my headphones, and what I heard moved me beyond words.

"You are a nice girl, helping out strangers. Keep this picture, whenever you are in danger it will save you and protect you from all kinds of trouble"

Then she gave me the picture of Lord Ramkrishna and Sarada Devi together. I was teary eyed through out the remaining of my journey.

6. 授人以鱼不如授之以渔

This happened in university during our final year when everyone is usually desperately seeking to kick start their career by bagging the best job(s) in the market. In the usual chaos of pulling a few strings to get an interview call, faking achievements and hoarding too many job offers than one could count, one of my friends decided to help me by recommending a job at a company he had interned at; a company he wanted to continue working for after he graduated. He was paranoid during the whole job search period and I had no hope of even being called for an interview...considering that they had not offered him a job yet. But I applied and they called me for a few rounds of interviews and after a month, I received an offer.

The fact that he would cheerfully congratulate me each time I made through an interview round and help me stay optimistic even as he felt more confused about his own prospects of getting a job offer was really.. touching. It's definitely one of the nicest things anyone has done for me at university.. a stage of life when even the closest of friends break apart because they want to get ahead in life.

7. 新西兰人民指路太感人

I was in Christchurch New Zealand, enjoying a free hour or so in the large arboretum in town. It was large enough that I eventually lost all sight of the town's buildings and landmarks and had no idea where I was.

I luckily came across and asked a middle aged woman, probably in her mid fifties, where my hotel was, and she told me to follow the river, make two lefts and then a right. I thanked here and went on walking.

About thirty minutes of walking later, I heard footsteps across the river. I turn around see the same woman running parallel to me along the other side of the river, then racing across the bridge to catch me. She runs across the bridge, tries to catch her breath and says, "I said two lefts and a right. I meant a left then two rights!".

I was astonished that a complete stranger, having helped me once. would go so far out of her way and make such an effort just to correct a simple mistake for my benefit.

I was truly touched. That cemented my earlier observation while in New Zealand that they are the most hospitable and pleasant folks I have ever met anywhere in the world.

8.爱心天使不要Money，小小Coins就够了

Three years back when I was passing through Chennai Central, I saw a man who is looking very weak and asking people for some help. Initially I thought he is some beggar but looking at his dress and luggage I felt something is not right. As I was having coffee he saw me staring at him and approached me very hesitatingly and started telling me his story.

He is originally from Delhi went to malaysia after being promised of construction work. His passport was taken from him and was treated quite badly. Long story short ... he bribed all his money saved to get his passport and a ticket to chennai! He showed me proofs of his airport ticket and his relieving letter. He refused money but asked me if I can book a ticket for him to delhi in sleeper class and that he would send me back money.

I took him to a local restaurant gave him some food and booked a ticket for him to delhi. While having food he wept like a child and said he never thought he will come back to india again. He forced me to take a few malaysian coins he had with him saying these are the only thing that he can give me at that time. He took my number and said bye.

After a few days I got a call from his mom thanking me profusely for helping her son and asked me my bank details for transferring money which I politely refused.

I still have those coins with me :)
